St. Leon Wind Energy is a 99 MW wind farm located approximately 150 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg in the town of St. Leon Manitoba. It is the first of its kind in the Province of Manitoba and one of the largest wind energy developments in Canada.
A single wind turbine-generator can generate up to 1.65 MW of power. The turbines start generating at a minimum wind speed of three metres per second, always turning at 14.4 rpm.
A 99 MW wind farm is capable of powering approximately 41,000 homes.
